Located in Santa Monica, our canine social club is a haven for dogs and their owners alike, offering a range of amenities, experiential events, and spacious play areas.

Position: 

Part-Time Position to Full-Time Opportunity: Canine Safety Attendant (Rufferee)

 

Location: 

Santa Monica, CA - DOG PPL

Compensation: 

~$24 p/h

Responsibilities:

  • Pack Management: Oversee safe and appropriate play between dogs at the club through informed means of redirection and handling, as well as advocate for individual dogs' best social experiences.

  • Speaking Dog: Proactively and circumstantially addressing behavioral matters with guests, and capably communicating feedback in a customer service-minded fashion that is supported both by an objective knowledge of canine behaviorism, as well as DOG PPL's stance on "Good socialization".

  • Temperament Tests: Conduct behavioral assessments of potential new member dogs to determine their suitability for the club's social pack.

  • Safeguarding the Space: Routinely track behavioral issues and/or incidents between dogs so that corrective action can be taken towards curating the safest social pack possible.

  • Club Maintenance: Help to maintain cleanliness and sanitation throughout the club environment.

  • Keep it Flowing: Assure that canine water sources and drinking surfaces are regularly refilled and sanitized.

  • Operational: Complete opening/closing duties, ensuring the club is ready to shine at the start of the day and is properly secured and organized at closing.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Must Love Dogs: Embrace your passion for pups as you interact with dogs and their owners throughout the day.

  • Formal Canine Experience: Experience working with dogs or in a dog-focused environment (training, daycare, dog walking, etc.)

  • Extensive Dog Knowledge: Understanding of canine body language and behavior as it relates to off-leash socialization.

  • Dog Confidence: Be comfortable handling dogs of all sizes, temperaments, and breeds.

  • Strong Communication and People Skills: Communicate well as a team & outwardly towards guests + Build positive relationships with dog owners as the additional guardians of their pets.​

  • Reliable and Team-Oriented: Bring responsibility, honesty, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

  • Availability: 3 or more days, including at least 1 weekend day - Be ready to work mornings, mid-days, nights, and possibly holidays.

  • Physically Active: Stay on your feet and lift up to 50 lbs when needed.
